Remember, a Jedi can feel the Force flowing through him. I can’t get involved! I’ve got work to do! It’s not that I like the Empire, I hate it, but there’s nothing I can do about it right now. It’s such a long way from here. I call it luck. You are a part of the Rebel Alliance and a traitor! Take her away!

President Bola Tinubu has elevated the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, with higher National Honours. This announcement was made during his nationwide address on Tuesday morning in commemoration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary.

Among the other honorees are Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu.

According to LEADERSHIP, these awards are linked to the officials’ roles within the legislative and judicial branches of government.

The President highlighted that, as customary, the federal government will soon unveil the complete list of national honours recipients for 2024.

“The Senate President and the Chief Justice of the Federation have received the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON). The Deputy Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives were awarded Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), while the Deputy Speaker was honored with Commander of the Order of Niger (CON),” Tinubu declared.

Nasarawa Youths Reject #October1 Protest, Back Tinubu’s Administration

As Nigeria celebrated its 64th Independence Anniversary, youths from Keffi Local Government Area in Nasarawa State held a solidarity rally on Tuesday in support of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, distancing themselves from the ongoing protests across the country.

Under the banner “I Am Nigeria,” the youths expressed faith in President Tinubu’s leadership and urged Nigerians to remain patient as the government works to improve the nation’s situation.

Speaking to journalists, the group’s convener, Ibrahim Maiyanga, explained their choice to avoid protests was rooted in a commitment to maintaining peace in the state and the country at large.

“As responsible citizens, we chose not to join the protests. The painful memories of the 2020 EndSARS protests are still vivid for those who lost loved ones and livelihoods. We believe nationwide protests have done more harm than good,” Maiyanga stated.

He urged youth groups organizing protests to engage in dialogue with the federal government instead of actions that could lead to loss of lives and property.

“Today, we gather to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence. While we may not be where we want to be, we are certainly not where we used to be. I urge all citizens to be patient with President Tinubu. I am confident that soon, we will all have reasons to smile,” he added.

Maiyanga also stressed the importance of unity and patience, assuring that both the federal and state governments are working to address the country’s issues. While supporting the right to peaceful protest, he expressed concern that demonstrations could be exploited by hoodlums, resulting in violence.

He noted that President Tinubu had only been in office for a year, inheriting a struggling economy and numerous challenges, and urged Nigerians to give him more time to steer the nation forward.

“The youths here today have shown great patriotism by choosing to celebrate instead of protest. We stand behind the government in delivering the dividends of democracy and call on all Nigerians to show loyalty, patience, and reject destructive paths. Protests are not the way forward,” he concluded.

I Can Swear With The Quaran That I didn’t Steal As Governor – El-Rufai

Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has expressed his willingness to swear by the Quran to affirm that he did not embezzle funds during his eight-year tenure. El-Rufai stated that, in light of the challenges he currently faces, he is turning to God for help.

“I chose to remain silent to observe how events would unfold. But in my life, I always pray for God’s guidance, striving not to commit wrongs or betray the trust placed in me,” he said.

El-Rufai emphasized that, if other former governors and leaders are willing to swear by the Quran to declare their innocence regarding public funds, he is ready to do the same. “I’ve always maintained that if former governors of Kaduna State and other leaders swear by the Quran that they never took public funds, I would gladly join them. This is because I never entered public service to steal; I joined politics to serve the people of Kaduna State. I didn’t seek wealth, as I was content with what I had before becoming governor. Yet, allegations of misappropriation were made against us without specifics about the missing funds or who took them.”
