President Bola Tinubu has elevated the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, with higher National Honours. This announcement was made during his nationwide address on Tuesday morning in commemoration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary.

Among the other honorees are Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu.

According to LEADERSHIP, these awards are linked to the officials’ roles within the legislative and judicial branches of government.

The President highlighted that, as customary, the federal government will soon unveil the complete list of national honours recipients for 2024.

“The Senate President and the Chief Justice of the Federation have received the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON). The Deputy Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives were awarded Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), while the Deputy Speaker was honored with Commander of the Order of Niger (CON),” Tinubu declared.
